Cheese Making Directions

  1. 1

    Heat the Milk

In a large pot, heat the whole milk over medium heat until it reaches about 190°F (88°C). Stir occasionally to prevent scorching.

  2. 2

    Add Vinegar

Once the milk is heated, remove it from the heat and add the white vinegar. Stir gently for a few seconds, then let it sit for about 10 minutes. The milk will curdle and separate into curds and whey.

  3. 3

    Strain the Curds

Place a colander lined with cheesecloth over a large bowl. Carefully pour the curds and whey into the colander to strain the curds. Let it drain for about 5-10 minutes.

  4. 4

    Rinse and Season

Rinse the curds under cold water to remove excess vinegar. Sprinkle salt over the curds and mix gently to combine.

  5. 5

    Form the Cheese

Gather the corners of the cheesecloth and twist to form a ball. Squeeze gently to remove any remaining whey. You can shape it into a log or a ball.

  6. 6

    Chill and Serve

Place the formed cheese in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to firm up. Slice and serve as desired.
