Method

Donut Batter

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, combine the buttermilk, egg, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and red food coloring. Mix until smooth.

  4. 4

    Combine Dry and Wet Mixtures

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  5. 5

    Fill the Pan

Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.

  6. 6

    Bake the Donuts

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool the Donuts

Remove the donuts from the oven and let them cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

White Chocolate Glaze

  1. 8

    Melt the White Chocolate

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the white chocolate chips and heavy cream.

  2. 9

    Heat and Stir

Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate is melted and smooth.

  3. 10

    Glaze the Donuts

Dip the cooled donuts into the white chocolate glaze, allowing any excess to drip off.

Toppings

  1. 11

    Add Sparkling Sugar

While the glaze is still wet, sprinkle sparkling sugar on top of each donut to finish.
