Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the ribeye steak from the refrigerator and allow it to come to room temperature for about 30-45 minutes before cooking. This helps ensure even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Generously season both sides of the ribeye steak with kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Make sure to rub the seasoning into the meat well for maximum flavor.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill to high heat or a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add the olive oil and heat until shimmering but not smoking.

  4. 4

    Sear the Steak

Place the seasoned ribeye steak on the hot grill or skillet. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it to get a nice crust.

  5. 5

    Flip the Steak

Using tongs, carefully flip the steak and cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, adjusting the time slightly for your preferred doneness.

  6. 6

    Add Butter and Herbs

During the last 2 minutes of cooking, add the butter and fresh rosemary to the skillet or grill. Baste the steak with the melted butter using a spoon for enhanced flavor.

  7. 7

    Rest the Steak

Once done, remove the steak from the heat and let it rest for 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.

  8. 8

    Slice and Serve

After resting, slice the steak against the grain and serve immediately. Enjoy the rich flavors of your perfectly cooked cowboy steak!
