Falafel Ingredients

Method

Falafel Preparation

  1. 1

    Soak the Chickpeas

Rinse the dried chickpeas and soak them in water overnight or for at least 8 hours. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Blend Ingredients

In a food processor, combine the soaked chickpeas, chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, cumin, coriander, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Pulse until the mixture is coarse and well combined, but not pureed.

  3. 3

    Form Patties

Transfer the mixture into a bowl. Stir in the flour to bind the mixture. Using your hands, form small balls or patties, about the size of a golf ball.

  4. 4

    Fry the Falafel

Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat. Once hot, carefully drop the falafel balls in batches. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve the falafel warm with tahini sauce drizzled on top or on the side. Enjoy!
