Pizza Dough and Toppings

Method

Preparation and Cooking

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a small bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  2. 2

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat.

  4. 4

    Shape the Pizza

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to a 10-inch round. Transfer to a pizza peel or baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  5. 5

    Add Sauce and Toppings

Spread pizza sauce over the dough, leaving a small border. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce. Layer the toppings: pepperoni, sweet Italian sausage, mushrooms, onion, kalamata olives, green bell pepper, pineapple, ham, fresh garlic, and jalapeño. Finish with chopped basil.

  6. 6

    Bake the Pizza

Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.

  7. 7

    Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice and serve hot.
