Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Sauté the Onions

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until they are translucent and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Cook the Steak

Add the thinly sliced Philly steak to the skillet with the onions. Cook for another 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the steak is cooked through.

  3. 3

    Melt the Cheese

Once the steak is cooked, place 2 slices of provolone cheese on top of the steak and cover the skillet for a minute to allow the cheese to melt.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Sub Rolls

While the cheese is melting, slice the sub rolls lengthwise and spread mayonnaise on the inside of each roll.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Subs

Once the cheese has melted, carefully spoon the steak and onion mixture into each sub roll. Top with shredded lettuce and slices of tomato.

  6. 6

    Serve

Cut the subs in half if desired and serve hot.
