Lasagna Ingredients
Method
Preparation Directions
- 1
Cook the Sausage
In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add Italian sausage and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- 2
Prepare the Cheese Mixture
In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, salt, black pepper, and fresh basil. Mix until well blended.
- 3
Cook the Lasagna Noodles
In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- 4
Layer the Lasagna
Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Layer 3 sheets of lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by half of the cooked sausage, and a third of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers, ending with noodles and marinara sauce on top. Sprinkle with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- 5
Bake the Lasagna
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- 6
Serve
Let the lasagna cool for about 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy!
