Method

Fried Green Tomatoes

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tomatoes

Slice the green tomatoes into 1/2 inch thick slices. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

  2. 2

    Breading Process

Set up a breading station with one bowl of flour, one bowl of buttermilk, and one bowl of cornmeal. Dip each tomato slice in flour, then buttermilk, and finally coat with cornmeal.

  3. 3

    Fry the Tomatoes

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the breaded tomato slices until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Horseradish Sauce

  1. 4

    Mix the Sauce

In a bowl, combine horseradish, mayonnaise, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Mix well and adjust seasoning to taste.

Potato Chips

  1. 5

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and thinly slice the potatoes. Rinse to remove excess starch and pat dry.

  2. 6

    Fry the Chips

Heat oil in a separate skillet over medium heat. Fry potato slices in batches until crispy, about 3-5 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels, season with salt.

Assembly and Serving

  1. 7

    Assemble the Dish

On a plate, place a layer of mixed greens, top with fried green tomatoes, diced red onion, diced tomato, and drizzle with horseradish sauce. Serve with house-made potato chips on the side.
