Main Ingredients

Horsey Sauce

Method

Fried Green Tomatoes

  1. 1

    Prepare the Coating

In a shallow bowl, mix together flour, cornmeal, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Egg Wash

In another bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.

  3. 3

    Coat the Tomatoes

Slice the green tomatoes into 1/4 inch thick slices. Dip each slice into the egg wash, then coat with the flour mixture.

  4. 4

    Fry the Tomatoes

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Fry the coated tomato slices for 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

Grilled Cheese Assembly

  1. 5

    Prepare the Horsey Sauce

In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise and horseradish sauce. Mix well and set aside.

  2. 6

    Assemble the Sandwich

On two slices of Texas toast, spread a layer of horsey sauce. Add a slice of pepperjack cheese, followed by fried green tomatoes, and optionally, cooked bacon. Top with another slice of pepperjack cheese and then cover with the remaining Texas toast.

  3. 7

    Grill the Sandwich

In a skillet over medium heat, grill the sandwich until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side.
