Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Brown Rice

Rinse the brown rice under cold water. Combine with 2 cups of water in a pot, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 40-45 minutes until tender. Fluff with a fork and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Tuna

Coat the Ahi tuna steaks with sesame seeds on all sides, pressing gently to adhere. Season with salt and pepper if desired.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Sear the Tuna

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat with a splash of oil. Once hot, sear the tuna steaks for about 1-2 minutes on each side for rare, or longer if desired for a different doneness. Remove from heat and let rest.

  2. 4

    Assemble the Dish

Slice the seared tuna into thin strips. Serve it on a plate alongside the cooked brown rice, seaweed, pickled ginger, and wasabi. Drizzle with soy sauce to taste.
