Onion Strings Preparation
- 6
Slice the Onion
Peel the onion and slice it thinly into rings.
- 7
Soak in Buttermilk
Place the onion rings in a bowl and pour buttermilk over them. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes.
- 8
Prepare the Coating
In a separate bowl, mix together flour, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper.
- 9
Coat the Onion Rings
Remove the onion rings from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each ring in the flour mixture until well coated.

Fry the Onion Strings
Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Fry the onion rings in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
