Method

Preparation

1

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.

2

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

Mixing

3

Melt Butter

In a saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter. Remove from heat and stir in the brown sugar until well combined.

4

Add Eggs and Vanilla

Allow the butter mixture to cool slightly, then whisk in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.

5

Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures

Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

Baking

6

Add Optional Ingredients

If desired, fold in the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts.

7

Bake the Brownies

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

8

Cool and Cut

Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, cut into squares and serve.
