Pork Shoulder Preparation

Prepare the Pork
Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C). Season the pork shoulder with salt, black pepper, paprika, and cumin.

Sear the Pork
In a large Dutch oven, heat a couple of tablespoons of oil over medium-high heat. Sear the pork shoulder on all sides until browned, about 8-10 minutes. Remove and set aside.

Add Liquids
Pour in the beer and chicken broth, scraping the bottom of the pot to deglaze. Stir in the brown sugar.

Braise the Pork
Return the pork shoulder to the pot. Cover and transfer to the oven. Braise for 3-4 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.

Prepare the Vegetable
Trim and wash the fresh seasonal vegetable. Steam or sauté according to preference until tender, about 5-7 minutes.
