Fried Pickle Chips
Chipotle Ranch Dipping Sauce
Method
Fried Pickle Chips
- 1
Prepare the Pickles
Drain the sliced dill pickles and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- 2
Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix well to ensure even distribution of the spices.
- 3
Prepare the Buttermilk Batter
In another bowl, pour the buttermilk and set it aside.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Coat the Pickles
Dip each pickle slice first into the buttermilk, allowing any excess to drip off, then dredge it in the flour mixture, pressing lightly to coat well.
- 6
Fry the Pickles
Carefully place the coated pickle slices into the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- 7
Drain and Serve
Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried pickles from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot.
Chipotle Ranch Dipping Sauce
- 8
Mix the Sauce
In a small bowl, combine the ranch dressing, chipotle sauce, lime juice, and chopped cilantro. Stir until well blended.
- 9
Serve
Transfer the chipotle ranch dipping sauce to a serving bowl and serve alongside your fried pickle chips.
