Fried Mozzarella

Homemade Marinara Sauce

Method

Fried Mozzarella Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the mozzarella

Cut the fresh mozzarella cheese into sticks, about 1/2 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Set up the breading station

In three separate bowls, place the flour in the first bowl, beat the eggs in the second bowl, and place the breadcrumbs mixed with salt and pepper in the third bowl.

  3. 3

    Bread the mozzarella

Take each mozzarella stick, coat it in flour, dip it into the beaten eggs, then roll it in the breadcrumb mixture until fully coated.

  4. 4

    Heat the oil

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the mozzarella

Working in batches, carefully add the breaded mozzarella sticks to the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.

  6. 6

    Drain the mozzarella

Remove the fried mozzarella sticks from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Homemade Marinara Sauce Preparation

  1. 7

    Sauté garlic

In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  2. 8

    Add tomatoes and seasonings

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

  3. 9

    Simmer the sauce

Reduce the heat to low and let the marinara sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. 10

    Adjust seasoning

Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning as needed.
