Haddock Fillet

Method

Preparing the Haddock

  1. 1

    Make the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Gradually whisk in the beer until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.

  2. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a deep fryer or large pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.

  3. 3

    Batter the Haddock

Dip each piece of haddock fillet into the batter, ensuring they are completely coated.

  4. 4

    Fry the Haddock

Carefully place the battered haddock into the hot oil. Fry for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Making the Cole Slaw

  1. 5

    Combine Vegetables

In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage and carrot.

  2. 6

    Make Dressing

In a separate bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper until smooth.

  3. 7

    Mix Together

Pour the dressing over the cabbage and carrot mixture. Toss well to combine and coat evenly. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Preparing the Fries

  1. 8

    Heat the Oil

In a deep fryer or large pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 9

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the cut potatoes to the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until crispy and golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt while hot.
