Method

Preparation of Marinade

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, cornstarch, and water until fully combined.

Marinating Proteins

  1. 2

    Marinate Chicken and Shrimp

Cut the chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces and place them in a resealable plastic bag or bowl. Add half of the marinade to the chicken, seal the bag or cover the bowl, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. In a separate bowl, add the shrimp and the remaining marinade, cover, and refrigerate for 15 minutes.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Cook the Chicken

Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Remove chicken from marinade and add to the skillet. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until cooked through and slightly golden.

  2. 4

    Cook the Shrimp

Add the marinated shrimp to the skillet with the chicken and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes until the shrimp turn pink and opaque.

  3. 5

    Add Vegetables

Add the sliced bell pepper, broccoli florets, and sliced carrot to the skillet. Stir-fry for an additional 4-5 minutes until vegetables are tender-crisp.

  4. 6

    Thicken the Sauce

If desired, pour any remaining marinade into the skillet and bring to a simmer, allowing the sauce to thicken for 2-3 minutes.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve the Dish

Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot over rice or noodles.
