Method

Preparation of Steak

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Pat the USDA Choice grade beef steak dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Cook the Steak

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned steak and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until your desired doneness is reached. Remove from heat and allow the steak to rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing.

Teriyaki Sauce Preparation

  1. 3

    Combine Sauce Ingredients

In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil. Stir well over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.

  2. 4

    Thicken the Sauce

In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water until smooth. Add this mixture to the saucepan, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens (about 2-3 minutes). Remove from heat.

Serving the Dish

  1. 5

    Slice the Steak

Once the steak has rested, slice it thinly against the grain.

  2. 6

    Serve

Arrange the sliced steak on a plate, drizzle with the prepared teriyaki sauce, and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
