Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the salmon

In a small bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and the juice of half the lemon. Whisk together until well blended. Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Cover and let them marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare the grill or oven

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat or your oven to 400°F (200°C). If using a grill, lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Cook the salmon

Remove the salmon from the marinade and place it skin-side down on the grill or a baking sheet if using the oven. Cook for about 6-8 minutes per side, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. If using the oven, bake for about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 4

    Finishing touches

Once cooked, remove the salmon from the heat. Squeeze the remaining half of the lemon over the top and sprinkle with fresh dill, and optional capers or red pepper flakes if desired.
