Steak Marinade

Method

Steak Marinade Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a mixing bowl, combine olive oil, lime juice, minced garlic, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Whisk together until well mixed.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Steak

Place the flank steak in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it is well coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.

Cooking the Steak

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill or stovetop grill pan to medium-high heat.

  2. 4

    Cook the Steak

Remove the steak from the marinade and let any excess marinade drip off. Place the steak on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until it reaches your desired doneness. Remove from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Assembling the Sandwich

  1. 5

    Slice the Bread

While the steak is resting, slice the baguette or ciabatta bread in half lengthwise.

  2. 6

    Add the Steak

Thinly slice the cooked steak against the grain and layer it on the bottom half of the bread.

  3. 7

    Top with Fresh Ingredients

Add slices of avocado, tomato, and red onion on top of the steak. Sprinkle chopped cilantro over the vegetables.

  4. 8

    Add Hot Sauce

Drizzle hot sauce over the top if desired.

  5. 9

    Close the Sandwich

Place the top half of the bread over the fillings, press down gently, and your Sandwich de Bistec is ready to serve!
