Method

For the Potato Mixture

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the potatoes and cut them into quarters. Boil in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 2

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and mash them in a bowl. Add butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until smooth and creamy.

For the Filling

  1. 3

    Cook the Filling

In a skillet, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, cooking until softened, about 3-4 minutes.

  2. 4

    Add the Meat and Spices

Add the ground beef or shredded chicken to the skillet. Season with cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook until the meat is browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in the bell pepper and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.

For Assembly

  1. 5

    Form the Croquettes

Take a small portion of the potato mixture and flatten it in your palm. Place a spoonful of the meat filling in the center and fold the potato around to form a ball or oval shape. Repeat with remaining mixture and filling.

  2. 6

    Coat the Croquettes

Set up a breading station: Place flour in one bowl, beaten eggs in another, and breadcrumbs in a third. Dredge each croquette in flour, dip in eggs, and coat with breadcrumbs.

For Frying

  1. 7

    Heat the Oil

In a deep pan, heat oil over medium heat until hot, about 350°F (175°C).

  2. 8

    Fry the Croquettes

Carefully add a few croquettes at a time to the hot oil. Fry until golden brown on all sides, about 4-5 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
