Boil the Pasta
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, approximately 10-12 minutes.
- 2
Drain the Pasta
Once cooked, drain the pasta and set aside, reserving about 1/2 cup of the pasta water.
Preparing Vegetables

Sauté Vegetables
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced red onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

Prepare the Sauce
In a separate saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat. Add the minced garlic, salt, and black pepper to the cream, stirring frequently until warmed through.
- 6
Combine Sauce and Vegetables
Once the sauce is heated, add the sautéed vegetables to the cream sauce and stir to combine. Gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese, stirring until melted and smooth.
Combining Ingredients

Mix Pasta with Sauce
Add the cooked penne pasta to the skillet with the cream sauce and vegetables. Toss gently to coat the pasta evenly, adding reserved pasta water as necessary to achieve desired creaminess.
