Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Slice the Steak

Thinly slice the ribeye steak against the grain into strips. This will help it cook quickly and remain tender.

  2. 2

    Prep the Vegetables

Remove the seeds from the green bell pepper and slice it into thin strips. Peel the onion and slice it into thin rings.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and green pepper, sautéing for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are soft and slightly caramelized.

  2. 4

    Cook the Steak

Push the sautéed vegetables to the side of the skillet and add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the sliced ribeye steak. Season with salt and black pepper. Cook for about 3-5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the steak is browned and cooked through.

  3. 5

    Melt the Cheese

Once the steak is cooked, place the slices of provolone cheese on top of the steak and vegetables in the skillet. Cover with a lid for about 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Prepare the Hoagie Rolls

While the cheese melts, slice the hoagie rolls lengthwise without cutting all the way through.

  2. 7

    Fill the Rolls

Once the cheese is melted, carefully spoon the steak and vegetable mixture into the hoagie rolls.

  3. 8

    Serve

Serve the Philly cheesesteak sandwiches warm, optionally with condiments like hot sauce or ketchup on the side.
