Mofongo

Method

Mofongo Preparation

  1. 1

    Fry Plantains

Peel the green plantains and cut them into 1-inch slices. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and fry the plantain slices until golden brown on all sides, about 10-12 minutes.

  2. 2

    Mash Ingredients

Remove the fried plantains from the skillet and place them in a large bowl. Add garlic cloves and a pinch of salt. Mash the mixture using a mortar and pestle or a fork until well combined.

  3. 3

    Add Broth

Gradually mix in the chicken broth until the mofongo reaches a smooth and thick consistency. Adjust salt to taste.

Creole Steak Preparation

  1. 4

    Season the Steak

Rub the ribeye steaks with olive oil and season both sides with Creole seasoning, garlic powder, black pepper, and lemon juice. Allow the steak to marinate for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 5

    Cook the Steak

Preheat a grill or skillet over high heat. Cook the marinated steaks for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is reached.

  3. 6

    Rest and Slice

Remove the steaks from the heat and let them rest for 5 minutes before slicing them against the grain.
