Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Choose the Right Plantains

Select ripe plantains that are yellow with black spots. The riper they are, the sweeter they will be.

  2. 2

    Peel the Plantains

Using a knife, cut off both ends of the plantains. Make a slit along the length of the plantain and carefully peel off the skin.

  3. 3

    Slice the Plantains

Cut the peeled plantains into diagonal slices about 1 inch thick.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until hot but not smoking.

  2. 5

    Fry the Plantains

Carefully add the sliced plantains to the hot oil in batches. Fry them for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they are golden brown.

  3. 6

    Drain Excess Oil

Once cooked, use a slotted spoon to remove the plantains from the skillet and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.

  4. 7

    Season with Salt

Sprinkle the fried plantains with salt while they are still hot. Adjust the amount of salt to your taste.
