Pasta Preparation

Cook the Rigatoni
In a large pot of boiling salted water, add the rigatoni pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Prepare the Tomato Sauce
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

Add Tomatoes and Vodka
Add the canned San Marzano tomatoes to the skillet, crushing them gently with a spoon. Pour in the vodka and stir to combine. Simmer the sauce for about 10 minutes.

Incorporate Cream and Seasonings
Lower the heat and stir in the heavy cream. Add the chopped basil, salt, and black pepper. Allow the sauce to simmer for an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Combine with Pasta
Add the cooked rigatoni to the sauce and toss to coat the pasta evenly. Let it cook together for another 2-3 minutes on low heat.

Serve and Garnish
Plate the rigatoni alla vodka, and sprinkle with grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese and additional basil if desired. Serve immediately.
