Method

Marinating the Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a bowl, mix together olive oil, lime juice, minced garlic, ground cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Steak

Place the flank steak in a large resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it is well coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight for best flavor.

Cooking the Steak

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

  2. 4

    Grill the Steak

Remove the steak from the marinade and let any excess marinade drip off. Grill the steak for about 5-7 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is reached. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature (130°F for medium-rare).

  3. 5

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

  4. 6

    Slice the Steak

Slice the steak against the grain into thin strips.

Assembling the Tacos

  1. 7

    Warm the Tortillas

In a dry skillet over medium heat, warm the corn tortillas for about 30 seconds on each side until pliable.

  2. 8

    Assemble the Tacos

Place a few strips of grilled steak onto each tortilla. Top with chopped cilantro, diced red onion, avocado slices, a dollop of sour cream, and salsa as desired.
