Method

Preparation of Beef

  1. 1

Slice the beef into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick, to allow for even cooking and marinating.

  2. 2

In a bowl, combine the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, cumin, and chili powder. Mix well.

  3. 3

Add the sliced beef to the bowl and coat thoroughly with the seasoning mixture. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Cooking the Beef

  1. 4

    Cooking in a Pan

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add a little oil if necessary.

  2. 5

Once the skillet is hot, add the marinated beef strips. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until the beef is browned and cooked through.

Assembling the Cachetada

  1. 6

    Assembly

Warm the flour tortilla in a dry skillet for about 30 seconds on each side, until pliable.

  2. 7

Place the cooked beef strips in the center of the warm tortilla.

  3. 8

Sprinkle the grated queso over the beef.

  4. 9

Add the jocoque on top of the cheese.

  5. 10

Fold the tortilla in half to create a pocket with the filling inside.

Serving

  1. 11

Serve the cachetada warm, optionally with additional jocoque on the side.
