Main Ingredients

Marinade

For Cooking

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a small bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, chopped rosemary, chopped thyme, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to form a marinade.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Steak

Place the rib eye steak in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over it. Ensure the steak is well coated. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a skillet or frying pan, heat over medium-high heat until hot.

  2. 4

    Add Butter

Add the butter to the pan and let it melt, swirling it around to coat the surface.

  3. 5

    Cook the Steak

Remove the steak from the marinade, letting excess marinade drip off. Place the steak in the hot pan. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, until a crust forms.

  4. 6

    Flip the Steak

Using tongs, flip the steak over and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or longer if desired. You can baste the steak with the melted butter during the last minute of cooking for added flavor.

  5. 7

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest on a cutting board for 5-10 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.

Serving

  1. 8

    Slice and Serve

Slice the rib eye against the grain and serve it on a plate. Optionally, drizzle with more olive oil or serve with a side of your choice.
