House Fries Ingredients

Method

Preparation Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into evenly sized fries (about 1/4 inch thick).

  2. 2

    Soak the Fries

Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water and soak them for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and makes the fries crispier.

  3. 3

    Drain and Dry

After soaking, drain the fries and pat them dry with paper towels to remove moisture.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large, heavy pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the fries to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Drain and Season

Remove the fries from the oil with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Season immediately with salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.

  7. 7

    Serve

Garnish with fresh chopped parsley and serve hot as a side dish or snack.
