Brew the espresso coffee and let it cool. If desired, stir in the coffee liqueur for added flavor.

In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream with half of the granulated sugar until soft peaks form. Set aside.

Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined.

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled espresso, making sure not to soak them. Lay them in a single layer in a serving dish.
