Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tofu

Press the firm tofu to remove excess moisture. Wrap it in a clean kitchen towel and place a heavy object on top for about 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Cut and Season

Once pressed, cut the tofu into thick slices (about 2 cm thick). In a bowl, mix cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Dredge each slice of tofu in the cornstarch mixture until fully coated.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot.

  4. 4

    Fry the Tofu

Carefully place the coated tofu slices into the hot oil. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pan; fry in batches if necessary.

  5. 5

    Drain and Serve

Once fried, transfer the tofu onto a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot as a snack or main dish.
