Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Onion Straws

Thinly slice the onion into rings. Soak the onion rings in cold water for 30 minutes to help them become crispy when fried.

  2. 2

    Coat the Onion Straws

After soaking, drain the onion rings and toss them in all-purpose flour until well coated. Shake off any excess flour.

  3. 3

    Fry the Onion Straws

In a deep skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, fry the coated onion rings in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per batch. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  4. 4

    Cook the Steak

Preheat a grill or grill pan over high heat. Season the strip steak with salt and black pepper on both sides. Grill the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Dish

Place the crispy onion straws on a serving plate. Slice the grilled strip steak and lay it on top of the onion straws. Drizzle with zip sauce before serving.
