Method

Shrimp Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Boiling Liquid

In a large pot, combine 4 cups of water, the halved lemon, bay leaves, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

  2. 2

    Cook the Shrimp

Once the water is boiling, add the peeled and deveined shrimp. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque.

  3. 3

    Chill the Shrimp

Remove the shrimp from the pot and transfer them to an ice bath (a bowl filled with ice and water) to stop the cooking process. Let them chill for about 5-7 minutes.

  4. 4

    Drain and Set Aside

Once chilled, drain the shrimp and set them aside on a plate lined with paper towels to remove excess water.

Cocktail Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Mix the Sauce

In a bowl, combine 1 cup of ketchup, 2 tablespoons of horseradish, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, and 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce.

  2. 6

    Adjust Seasoning

Add hot sauce to taste and mix well. Adjust the amounts of horseradish and lemon juice if desired for extra flavor.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve the Shrimp

Arrange the chilled shrimp on a platter and serve with the cocktail sauce on the side for dipping.
