Method

Preparation of Seafood

1

Prepare the Seafood

Rinse the haddock, shrimp, scallops, and clams under cold water. Pat them dry with paper towels.

Breading Mixture

2

Make the Breading

In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Mix well.

3

Prepare Egg Mixture

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined.

Frying

4

Heat Oil

In a deep fryer or large pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Ensure there is enough oil for deep frying.

5

Bread the Seafood

Dip each piece of seafood first into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge it in the breading mixture, coating thoroughly.

6

Fry the Seafood

Carefully place the breaded seafood into the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes for shrimp and scallops, and 5-6 minutes for haddock and clams. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Sides Preparation

7

Prepare Coleslaw

In a large bowl, combine the coleslaw mix with the coleslaw dressing. Toss to coat evenly.

8

Cook the Fries

Prepare frozen fries according to package instructions, either in the oven or fryer until crispy.

Serving

9

Plate the Dish

Arrange the fried seafood on a platter alongside the coleslaw and fries. Serve with tartar sauce on the side.
