Salad Ingredients

Herbed Buttermilk Dressing

Method

Preparing the Salad

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Rinse the mixed salad greens, cherry tomatoes, and green beans thoroughly under running water. Trim the ends of the green beans and set them aside.

  2. 2

    Cook the Green Beans

In a small pot, bring water to a boil. Add the green beans and blanch for about 3-4 minutes until they are bright green and tender-crisp. Drain and immediately place them in ice water to stop cooking. Drain again and set aside.

  3. 3

    Cook the Tuna

Season the tuna steaks generously with salt and coat both sides with black pepper. In a skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add the tuna steaks and sear for about 2-3 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer if desired. Remove from heat and let rest for a few minutes before slicing.

  4. 4

    Prepare Hard-Boiled Eggs

Place the eggs in a pot and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat, cover, and let sit for 10-12 minutes. Transfer eggs to cold water, peel, and slice in half.

Making the Dressing

  1. 5

    Combine Dressing Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine buttermilk, fresh dill, garlic powder, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until smooth and well combined.

Assembling the Salad

  1. 6

    Assemble the Salad

On a large serving platter or individual plates, layer the mixed salad greens, add the halved cherry tomatoes, blanched green beans, and sliced hard-boiled eggs. Top with the sliced pepper-crusted tuna.

  2. 7

    Serve with Dressing

Drizzle the herbed buttermilk dressing over the salad or serve on the side for dipping.
