Method

Waffle Preparation

  1. 1

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until combined.

  2. 2

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat the eggs and then mix in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; small lumps are okay.

  4. 4

    Preheat Waffle Iron

Preheat the waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions and lightly grease it.

  5. 5

    Cook Waffles

Pour the appropriate amount of batter into the preheated waffle iron and cook until golden brown. Repeat until all the batter is used.

Marinated Berries

  1. 6

    Marinate Berries

In a small bowl, combine the mixed berries, Grand Marnier, and sugar. Toss gently to coat the berries.

  2. 7

    Allow to Sit

Let the berries sit for at least 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.

Whipped Mascarpone

  1. 8

    Beat Mascarpone

In a mixing bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese until smooth.

  2. 9

    Whip Together

Add the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Whip until soft peaks form.

Candied Pecans

  1. 10

    Combine Ingredients

In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the pecans, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.

  2. 11

    Cook Pecans

Stir constantly until the pecans are toasted and the sugar has melted and coated them evenly. This should take about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 12

    Cool Pecans

Transfer the candied pecans to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to cool and harden.

Assembly

  1. 13

    Assemble and Serve

To serve, stack the warm waffles on a plate. Top with marinated berries, a dollop of whipped mascarpone, candied pecans, and drizzle with warm maple syrup.
