Pizza Base

Method

Prepare the Dough

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the activated yeast mixture and olive oil.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Mix until a dough begins to form. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Assemble the Pizza

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) while the dough is rising.

  2. 6

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it into a circle or rectangle based on your pan shape.

  3. 7

    Add Sauce and Toppings

Transfer the shaped dough to a pizza stone or baking sheet. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the base, leaving a small border. Add mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, bell peppers, onion, olives, and sprinkle with dried oregano.

  4. 8

    Bake the Pizza

Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for about 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

  5. 9

    Garnish and Serve

Once baked, remove the pizza from the oven and sprinkle fresh basil leaves on top. Allow it to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
