Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Cook Pasta

Add pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente. This usually takes about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, reserve a cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta in a colander.

Making Sauce

  1. 4

    Heat Olive Oil

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 5

    Sauté Garlic

Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  3. 6

    Add Tomatoes

Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir well. Allow it to simmer for 10 minutes.

  4. 7

    Season Sauce

Add salt, black pepper, and fresh basil to the sauce, stirring to combine. Simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes.

  5. 8

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained pasta to the sauce, tossing to coat. If the sauce is too thick, add a bit of reserved pasta water until desired consistency is reached.

  6. 9

    Add Parmesan

Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and evenly distributed.

Garnishing

  1. 10

    Plate the Dish

Serve the pasta in bowls or on plates.

  2. 11

    Garnish

Top with fresh basil leaves and shaved Parmesan cheese before serving.
