Pimento Cheese Balls

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Pimento Cheese Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine the sharp cheddar cheese, cream cheese, diced pimentos, chopped green onions, garlic powder, hot sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Cheese Balls

Using your hands, form the cheese mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Coat the Cheese Balls

Set up a breading station: in one bowl, place the all-purpose flour; in a second bowl, add the beaten eggs; and in a third bowl, place the bread crumbs. Dip each cheese ball first in flour, then in egg, and finally in bread crumbs, ensuring they are evenly coated.

  4. 4

    Fry the Cheese Balls

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Carefully add the breaded cheese balls in batches, frying until golden brown (about 3-4 minutes). Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve the pimento cheese balls warm with your choice of dipping sauce.
