Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the ribeye steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Generously season both sides of the ribeye with kosher salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Press the seasonings into the meat to adhere.

  3. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a large cast-iron skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering but not smoking.

  4. 4

    Sear the Steak

Carefully place the steak in the hot skillet. Sear for about 4-5 minutes without moving it to create a nice crust.

  5. 5

    Flip and Add Butter

Flip the steak using tongs. Add butter and rosemary to the pan. As the butter melts, use a spoon to baste the steak with the melted butter for an additional 4-5 minutes.

  6. 6

    Check for Doneness

Use an instant-read thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, aim for 130°F (54°C).

  7. 7

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest on a cutting board for at least 10 minutes before slicing.

  8. 8

    Serve

Slice the steak against the grain and serve immediately, drizzling with any remaining pan juices.
