Poached Bosc Pear Ingredients

Method

Directions for Poaching Bosc Pears

  1. 1

    Prepare the Poaching Liquid

In a large saucepan, combine the red wine, sugar, cinnamon sticks, star anise, and vanilla extract. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar has dissolved.

  2. 2

    Poach the Pears

Peel the Bosc pears, leaving the stems intact. Carefully place the pears into the simmering wine mixture. Reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan. Let the pears poach for about 20-25 minutes, or until tender, turning occasionally.

  3. 3

    Cool and Serve

Once the pears are tender, remove them from the poaching liquid and let them cool slightly. You can reduce the poaching liquid over medium heat to create a syrup if desired. To serve, place a pear on a plate, add a scoop of vanilla gelato, sprinkle with pumpkin seed granola, and top with candied ginger.
