For the Tiramisu

Method

Prepare the Coffee Mixture

  1. 1

Brew the espresso coffee and let it cool to room temperature. If using, mix in the coffee liqueur and set aside.

Make the Mascarpone Cream

  1. 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk the egg yolks and granulated sugar together until the mixture turns pale and creamy.

  2. 3

Add the mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract to the egg mixture. Gently fold until well combined and smooth.

  3. 4

In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated.

Assemble the Tiramisu

  1. 5

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled coffee mixture, making sure not to soak them too long.

  2. 6

Layer half of the dipped ladyfingers in the bottom of a rectangular dish.

  3. 7

Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers, smoothing it out evenly.

  4. 8

Repeat with the remaining ladyfingers and mascarpone cream to create a second layer.

Chill and Serve

  1. 9

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.

  2. 10

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder for garnish.

  3. 11

Cut into squares and enjoy your homemade tiramisu!
