Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Grease four ramekins with butter and dust them with flour. This will help the cakes release easily once baked.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Heat in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until completely melted and smooth. Let it cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, all-purpose flour, and a pinch of salt.

  4. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In the melted chocolate mixture, add the eggs, egg yolks, and vanilla extract. Whisk until well combined. Gradually fold in the dry ingredient mixture until just combined.

Baking

  1. 5

    Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling them about 2/3 full.

  2. 6

    Bake the Cakes

Place the ramekins on a baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes. The edges should be firm, but the center should still be soft.

  3. 7

    Cool Slightly

Remove the ramekins from the oven and let them cool for about 1 minute.

  4. 8

    Unmold and Serve

Run a knife around the edges of the cakes to loosen them, then carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate. Serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
