Method

Prepare Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined; do not overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Shape Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing while cooking.

Cook Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. Ensure it's hot enough to sear the patties.

  2. 4

    Cook Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium doneness.

Prepare Toppings

  1. 5

    Slice Vegetables

While the patties are cooking, slice the tomato and onion into thin rings. Rinse the lettuce leaves and pat dry.

Assemble Burgers

  1. 6

    Toast Buns

If desired, toast the brioche buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 7

    Layer Ingredients

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese, tomato slices, and onion rings. Add condiments like ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise to taste.

  3. 8

    Complete the Burger

Top each burger with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
