Directions
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Prepare the Green Beans
In a large pot of boiling water, blanch the green beans for about 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
Mix the Casserole Filling
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper. Stir until well mixed.
Combine Ingredients
Add the blanched green beans and 1 cup of French fried onions to the soup mixture. Stir until the green beans are well coated.
Transfer to Baking Dish
Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
Add Topping
Remove the casserole from the oven and sprinkle the remaining French fried onions on top. If using, add the shredded cheddar cheese.
Final Bake
Return the casserole to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the casserole is bubbly.
Serve
