Frying
Method
Preparation
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine chicken wings with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, vegetable oil, and lemon juice. Mix well to ensure all wings are coated. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight for best flavor.
Breading
- 2
Prepare the Breading
In a shallow dish, mix together flour, cornstarch, additional salt, and additional black pepper. This will create a crispy coating for the wings.
Frying
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to check the temperature for safety.
- 4
Coat the Wings
Remove the marinated chicken wings from the refrigerator. Dredge each wing in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
- 5
Fry the Wings
Carefully add the coated wings to the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 8-10 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- 6
Drain and Serve
Remove the wings from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
