Pizza Dough and Toppings
Method
Preparation and Baking
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a large bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy. In another bowl, mix flour and salt. Gradually add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour, mixing until a dough forms. Knead for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- 2
Let the Dough Rise
Form the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly oiled bowl. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 3
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) for at least 30 minutes.
- 4
Shape the Pizza
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer to a pizza stone or baking sheet.
- 5
Add Toppings
Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough. Tear the fresh mozzarella into pieces and distribute them on top of the sauce. Add salt and black pepper to taste.
- 6
Bake the Pizza
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 7
Garnish
Once out of the oven, add fresh basil leaves on top of the pizza. Allow it to cool for a couple of minutes before slicing.
