Preparation Steps
- 1
Prepare the Steak
Season the strip steak with salt and black pepper. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a grill pan over medium-high heat. Grill the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is reached. Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
- 2
Sauté the Vegetables
In the same grill pan, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and sauté the sliced red onion and button mushrooms until they are soft and browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- 3
Assemble the Sandwich
Slice the ciabatta bread in half and place one half on a baking sheet. Layer the sliced steak, sautéed mushrooms, and onions. Top with provolone and gruyere cheese. Place the other half of the bread on top.
- 4
Toast the Sandwich
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the sandwich for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the bread is toasted.
- 5
Serve
Slice the sandwich in half and serve warm with creamy horseradish sauce on the side.
