Sandwich Components

Optional Toppings

Method

Prepare the Roast Beef

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Season the top round roast beef with salt and black pepper. Place it in a roasting pan and roast for about 1 hour, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 135°F (57°C) for medium-rare. Let it rest for 10-15 minutes before thinly slicing.

Make the Beef Gravy

  1. 2

    Prepare the Gravy

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Whisk in the flour to create a roux, stirring for about 2 minutes until golden. Gradually add the beef broth while whisking until the mixture is smooth. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and cook for another 5-7 minutes until thickened. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Assemble the Sandwich

  1. 3

Slice the sandwich rolls in half and toast them lightly. Pile the thinly sliced roast beef onto the bottom half of each roll. Generously ladle the beef gravy over the beef. Add any optional toppings if desired. Close the sandwich with the top half of the roll.
